No need for me to rewrite this whole article. The news is this: Next week the Gowalla API will add the ability to Check-In, meaning you won’t have to use the official Gowalla app to do so. Should lead to a lot more universal Check-In clients.

Basically it gives developers full access to all the Spot, User, Item and Trip data.
