The Reitz Union is the center of UF campus life. The building opened in 1936. The union is a place for students to meet and get a bite to eat between class in the food court. It holds ballrooms for large meetings and presentations. You’ll find a bank, student government offices, a two-story gift shop/bookstore, bowling alley and the student Career Resource Center. You’ll need a key if you’re planning on going up to the top floors, as they hold the union hotel.

On football Saturdays, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Florida Field is the place to be. Also known as “The Swamp,” the stadium is home to the SEC powerhouse the University of Florida Gator Football Team. The original football stadium, now the lower half of the stadium, was constructed in 1930. In August of 2003, the stadium experienced its fifth renovation, increasing the capacity to 88,548.

The O’Connell Center, which covers 3.6 acres, is actually a building within a building. Construction of the center was completed in December 1980. Many of the University Athletic teams, such as the basketball and gymnastics teams use the building for their training and practices. The various events hosted in this building include rock concerts, philharmonic orchestras, international swimming meets, basketball games, circuses and fairs.

The Marshall Criser Student Services Center, named after a former president of the University of Florida, houses many important student services. Offices include the Office for Student Financial Affairs, the Student Employment Office, the Office of Admissions and the Office of the University Registrar.

Century Tower was built in 1953 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the university and was dedicated to UF students killed in World Wars I and II. In 1979, a cast-bells carillon was installed in the Century Tower. The campus enjoys the sounds of this unusual musical instrument, played daily in informal programs during class breaks and in longer recitals for special University events. Viewers of the movie Parenthood with Steve Martin, might recognize Century Tower as some scenes for the film were shot here.

The Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art is one of the largest university art museums in the southeastern United States, containing nearly 7,000 works, which include photography and Asian, African, modern and contemporary art. The Camellia Court Café, located on the lower floor of the museum, known for it’s delicious sandwiches and tapas, is open for lunch daily. In 2009, the museum broke ground on a new 26,000-square-foot addition, which will be dedicated to the museum’s collection of Asian art.

Marston Science Library houses the University Libraries’ collections of physical, life and earth sciences, as well as engineering, agriculture and mathematics. The building opened February 1987 and is named for former UF President Robert Marston. This library serves over a million people each year.
